Reward after a tough ride.

Yesterdays short twenty mile bike ride was hard.

The heavy head-wind, cold grey sky,  riding through mud and bad weather, was what made it hard, nothing to do with the fact I haven't been out on the bike as regularly as I would have liked and am generally not as fit as I was in the summer ;-)

The ride rejuvenated me,  and I came home, gave the bike a good clean down, to the frame! Gave her some TLC in the form or bike oil. I felt rejuvenated, I got my mojo back, and my act together.  A whole load of outstanding domestic tasks, flat tidy, even cupboards cleaned out, wardrobe decluttered, a few bags of stuff to the tip, fridge cleaned and a trip to the supermarket late evening, to fill it up with the healthy stuff.   I fell asleep in front of the TV, watching the late night news.

Just getting off the sofa to go to bed was a big effort, my body already stiff from the exercise, I flopped into the comfort of freshly laundered bed, with a sense of accomplishment.

I slept in, and then went back to bed with a tray of freshly brewed pot of coffee, and a trashy novel, well isn't that what annual leave is for!  My limbs still feel a bit stiff and I should rest my body, it's dry but cloudy outside,  the only day this week that rain is not forcast, so I'm tempted to get back on my bike and do the ride again. OK maybe after lunch, brunch, it's already noon!

The great thing about being at home on annual leave is there is no excuse for eating junk in hurry. With time on my hands to cook, something I enjoy doing, its no chore.  All week I have eaten my food sat a table with a knife and fork, is a luxury that when your busy running around, simply gets missed.

Kipper: 62 calories, 7 grams of protein, 3.5 grams of fat and no carbohydrate, per ounce,  I whole kipper!  -about one and half ounces, and a poached egg, and some brown bread and butter, well nobody is perfect and some carbohydrate at least.  This is the life...  Sat at the table with there radio on,  no interruptions, it is heavenly.  I should reward myself more often, all thats missing is the news paper!
